A 57-year-old Clearing man has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with a double slaying that occurred Sunday night in the Gage Park neighborhood.
Robert M. Romo

Robert M. Romo, of the 6400 block of South Austin, allegedly stabbed a 64-year-old woman to death and shot a 63-year-old man in the head, inside an apartment at the back of 5340 S. Kedzie.

The two people slain were identified as Richard M. Romo (reportedly Robert Romo's brother) and Rita Chavez.

Police said the double homicide occurred just before 10 p.m.

Minutes later, police added, Robert Romo walked into the Just One More bar, 5332 S. Kedzie, where he allegedly threatened a bouncer and then stabbed a 44-year-old woman in a bathroom.

When police arrived at the bar, they reportedly subdued Romo with a Taser.

The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. She is expected to live.

Romo is due at a detention hearing at 26th and California today.

Earlier this month, Romo was charged with possession of a controlled substance after police curbed his vehicle at 25th and Trumbull.
