Just released by our friends at St. Richard/St. Bruno Parish:
As of July 1, St. Bruno and St. Richard became one unified parish under the Archdiocese of Chicago, and we are blessed to be able to offer Religious Education classes this year for parishioners and other youth in our community between 1st and 8th grade who wish to be formed in the Catholic faith.
“The Religious Education program at our parish is spirit-filled journey of Catholic faith formation with child, parent and catechist being led by Jesus,” said Kathy Kerwin, coordinator of Religious Education. “Together, all of us grow in our love for and relationship with God. We do God’s work together, helping each other achieve our most important goal in life of getting to heaven.”
CLASS TIMES -- The faith formation program for the 2021-2022 Catechetical Year will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 13 and continue through May 11. As part of the program, children will attend classes on Wednesday evenings (from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.) at St. Richard School (50th and Kenneth). We will have onsite in-person classes. No remote options will be offered this year.
HEALTH & SAFETY A PRIORITY -- Protecting the health and safety of students and their families, as well as our volunteers and parish staff, while providing an excellent, in-person faith formation experience, remain top priorities. Based on the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), consultation from our team of medical advisors, and the Archdiocesan COVID-19 Task Force, the program will follow the same protocols set forth by the Archdiocese’s Office for Catholic Schools. This includes:
• Masking;
• Physical distancing and classroom seating; and
• Requiring each family to sign a pledge to help ensure our programs provide a safe learning environment and remain open without undue interruption.
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN – People can register their children and pay fees online by visiting strichardparish.org and clicking the "Religious Education Information and Registration" icon. You may also contact the St. Richard Parish Office at (773) 585-1221 to request a paper registration form.
“We never want the cost of Religious Education to be a burden for any family or a barrier to a child being formed in our faith, so we encourage anyone who may need a flexible payment option for Religious Education to contact the parish office directly and we will work out a payment plan,” Kerwin added.
The administrative offices for St. Bruno and St. Richard Parish is now located at St. Richard Parish, 5030 S. Kostner.
