A string of garage burglaries in Scottsdale has prompted Chicago Police to issue a community alert, at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, September 14.

A string of garage burglaries in Scottsdale has prompted Chicago Police to issue a community alert, at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, September 14.
Crime scenes include:
• 8400 block of South Karlov on August 9.
• 8300 block of South Kenneth on August 9.
• 8500 block of South Kostner on August 9.
• 8300 block of South Kostner on August 10.
• 8300 block of South Kenton on August 10.
• 8400 block of South Kilbourn on August 10.
• 8300 block of South Kostner on August 11.
• 8300 block of South Kolin on September 9.
• 8300 block of South Kostner on August 11.
• 8300 block of South Kolin on September 9.
• 8300 Block of South Kolin on September 9.
• 3600 Block of West 84th Place on September 10.
Police said the burglar has been described as a Hispanic man about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10, 120-140 pounds, with hair in a pony-tail.

Those with useful information share about one of more of the crimes are asked to call CPD Area 1 detectives at (312) 747-8380 and refer to crime pattern P21-1-138.
In the meantime, police advise:
• Keep the perimeter of your property well lit.
• Report suspicious activity immediately.
• Keep doors and windows secured.
• Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks.
• If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives.
• If you are a victim, do not touch anything. Instead, call police immediately.
