CPD Alert: Creep Tries to Lure Schoolgirl Into His Van Near 59th and Karlov

Update at 1:11 p.m. Wednesday: the CPD alert sent out contained a typo. The incident occurred near 49th and Karlov, not 59th and Karlov.


Just released to the press by CPD at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday,

September 16:


"On September 15, at approximately 3:36 p.m., an unknown white Hispanic male attempted to lure a juvenile female into his vehicle.  The unknown male, driving a white van, pulled up next to the female juvenile, and motioned with his hands for her to come over to his van. The unknown male then parked his vehicle next to the female juvenile. The unknown male drove away shortly after the juvenile's parent arrived to pick her up from school. This incident occurred on the 5900 (update: 4900) block of South Karlov."

The offender is 32-35 years old, with black hair and a light complexion.

The white van's Illinois license plate number was described as 1638716-B.

Police advise:

·        Be aware of this situation and alert your neighbors.
·        Call 911 to report any suspicious person, vehicles or activity in your neighborhood.
·        Do not let children walk or play alone.  Identify safe havens along your child's route to school and home, such as businesses or trusted neighbors.
·        Always be aware of your surroundings.
