A 31-year-old Clearing man was arrested for theft of lost/stolen property after police found him in possession of a child's bicycle near his mother's house in Garfield Ridge.
Police on routine patrol said that at about 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, they spotted Hector Soto Valdivia riding a bike and holding a child's bike alongside, near the home of his mother, Ana.
Aware of recent bicycle thefts in the area, they stopped him to ask a few questions. Valdivia reportedly stated that the bike belonged to his daughter. When asked, he claimed he had no identification on himself, police said.

Police said that when they asked Hector to be seated in the back seat of the police vehicle, Ana Valdivia became confrontational, allegedly throwing her arms around Hector and saying "You're not taking him anywhere."
A brief struggle ensued, and police managed to separate mother and son. They placed Hector in the police vehicle and said that he kicked the vehicle and said "F~ck you" to the officers.
Ana Valdivia reportedly remained confrontational, allegedly saying "F~ck you, white b~tch" to one of the officers. She was then placed in custody. The child's bicycle was impounded by police.
At around that point, police reported, someone inside the house let a brown pit bull out the back door. The animal ran to the front of the house, and police said people inside the house ignored their repeated orders to put the dog back in the house.
The dog then spotted another dog a short distance away, being walked on a leash by a neighbor. The pit bull reportedly charged and attacked the other dog, inflicting injuries sufficiently severe for the dog to be euthanized later, police said. The pit bull was captured and taken away by a Chicago Animal Care and Control officer. Presumably, the pit bull has been put down; but CACC has not yet responded to a Southwest Chicago Post request for comment.
According to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Ana Valdivia was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and battery. She is due in Cook County Circuit Court Branch 34-4, 151 West Wentworth, at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, they added.
The State's Attorney's Office said they were reviewing information on Hector Soto Valdivia and would release information when they have it.

Burglars broke into a garage at the Kodiak Container Corporation, 4320 South Knox, and stole three vehicles: two forklifts and a white 2009 GMC truck.
